Blue Juice
Formed in late 2004, Blue Juice (there is some controversy on how this was to be spelled) was a short lived project.
The lineup consisted of myself on lead electric guitar, Dave Daley on rhythm acoustic guitar and vocals and Kereen Wardle on bass guitar and backing vocals.
The music for the songs was for the most part made of guitar and bass compositions I had been working on at the time but had no lyrics for. The songs where thrown together in a fairly short period of time using lyrics written primarily by Kereen and some by Dave.
We spent a good deal of time in my home studio working out the arrangements, practicing/jamming and ultimately recording a handful of songs for a demo disc.
Several of the songs that were recorded never got mixed down in time for the demo disc, but were archived and might eventually be released here on this site. Those particular mixes provided troublesome for the studio software I was working with at the time.
There was a lot of trickiness to recording multiple layered tracks individually with little focus on balancing the recording levels. I was using the free edition of MultitrackStudio which allows for only three active tracks. In order to produce a mixed down track for this demo I needed to bounce the individual recordings two-at-a-time and then mix those layers together until I had the final track.
Corrections to the mix generally required repeating the whole process which was massively time consuming, particularly on a Pentium II or III class computer.
